Women's Cross Country Claims Title at FLRunners.com Invite

LAKELAND, Fla. – For the second time this season, the Florida Atlantic University women's cross country team earned the top score at an event. This time around it was the FLRunners.com Invitational held in Lakeland, Florida. FAU claimed first out of seven teams in the event.

QUICK HITS

The team clinched first place for the second time this season.
Five of the eight Owl runners were freshmen, including the top-two finishers. All of the Owl runners finished in the top 25 out of 60 total runners.
Prisca König was the top FAU runner with a 20:27.64 time for a fourth place finish.
Nicole Megrath finished two slots down from König for sixth place with a time of 20:38.43.
Brooke Butterfield and Lauren Macon followed one after the other behind Megrath. Butterfield took seventh place with a 20:42.66 time and Macon came in at eighth with a 20:44.50 time.
Morgan Sharp was the next finisher for the Owls with a time of 20:52.24 for 10th place. Kelsey Meltzer crossed the line right behind her for 11th place with a time of 20:57.71.
Christina Humphries finished 13th, clocking in at 21:19.03. Natalie Ippolito rounded out the FAU runners with a 21st place finish in 22:41.31.

UP NEXT
Both the men's and the women's teams will compete in the Great American XC Festival on October 6 in Cary, North Carolina. Following that event, both teams will compete at the South Florida Invitational hosted by USF on October 12 for the final regular season event of the year.

FAU will be hosting the Conference USA Championship on October 27 at South County Regional Park.
