Men's Soccer Hosts C-USA Opponent New Mexico

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Nearly at the midway point of the season, the Florida Atlantic men's soccer team will host Conference USA opponent New Mexico on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium with league points on the line.

LAST TIME OUT
The Owls (2-3-0, 1-0-0 C-USA) topped ASA Miami in an exhibition match on Tuesday at FAU Soccer Stadium, 3-1. FAU's three goals were scored by Gonzalo Pena Barrasus, Adam O'Sullivan and Alberto Escobedo. Alonso Coello Camarero notched assists on the first two goals. Overall, the Owls outshot the Silver Storm, 24-6.
CATCHING UP WITH THE OWLS
FAU is in a two-way tie for third place in the C-USA standings with a perfect 1-0-0 record so far in league play. Old Dominion and FIU each have a 2-0-0 record for first place and Kentucky is also 1-0-0.
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Hagay Jalon has started all five games in-goal for the Owls this season. His 5.60 saves per game average is 10th nationally and his 28 total saves on the season is the 29th most in the country. Both of those marks lead C-USA. The Haifa, Israel native has registered two clean sheets this season which is tied for the fourth most in the league and is 47th nationally. He has the fourth best save percentage in the conference (0.718) and he recorded the second most saves in a single-game by a C-USA keeper this season with eight stops against South Carolina.
The Owls have had three goal-scorers this season in Gonzalo Pena Barrasus, Alex Alexis and Jean Paul Rafols. Pena and Alexis each scored golden goals for the Owls putting them in a tie for the fourth most game-winning goals in the league this season. Alonso Coello Camarero has picked up two assists through five games, giving him the sixth most in C-USA and his 0.40 assists per game average is the fifth highest.

New Mexico (2-5-0, 0-1-0 C-USA) has two wins against ranked opponents this season. The first coming against then-No. 22 Seattle by a score of 4-2 and the second against then-No. 30 Cal State Fullerton by 5-1. The Lobos lead C-USA in goals scored this season with 12 total through seven games.
Omar Grey leads New Mexico with five goals and one assist for 11 points on the season. Matt Puig also has three goals and three assists for nine points. Goalkeeper Ford Parker has played in six games for the Lobos this season, allowing 1.63 goals per game with a .714 save percentage.
