Baseball Earns Two JSR All-Americans

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two members of the 2018 Florida Atlantic University baseball team, Jake Miednik and Zach Schneider, were recently honored as First Team All-Americans by the Jewish Sports Review.

Miednik, the team's Friday night starter during his just-completed senior season, and Schneider, the Owls' closer in his first year with the squad, are among 23 Division I College All-Americans recognized as First Team by JSR. Miednik is the first of five starting pitchers listed, and Schneider is one of just two closers recognized by the publication.

Since being drafted, Miednik has had a fantastic start to his pro career with AZL Indians I, a Rookie League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. In seven appearances, he has given up just six hits and two runs, for an ERA of 1.93 and opposing batting average of .182. The lefthander has struck out 13 batters and issued only two walks in 9 1/3 innings.

Schneider has another year remaining with the Owls, and he and the rest of the team's returnees will soon combine with the new incoming class for fall practice, with the 2019 campaign set to start next February.
