BOCA RATON, Fla. -Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball player Carly Scarbrough has been named to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) All-Academic Team, the league announced on Wednesday. She currently holds a flawless 4.0 GPA while majoring in biological sciences.
Scarbrough, originally from Sarasota, Florida, has won nine different matches with three different partners, seven of those wins coming alongside Amanda Silva at the top of the Owls' lineup, including a straight-set victory over the No. 1 pair from 18th-ranked Tulane. Scarbrough has won 17 matches at FAU since transferring from Fresno State.
"It is an honor and a privilege to receive this recognition, especially because the CCSA encompasses so many prestigious universities and brilliant minds," said Scarbrough. "I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge and thank the coaching staff and the academic advisors here at FAU for their tremendous support."
The Sandy Owls are the No. 8 seed for the CCSA Tournament and will begin pool play against top-seeded Florida State at noon Eastern on Friday.
