Florida Atlantic University football quarterback Chris Robison, who was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team on Tuesday, became the first FAU football player to be named C-USA Freshman of the Year. Robison will share the honor with Marshall's quarterback Isaiah Green, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
The voting result marked just the third time in C-USA history that two players shared Co-Freshman of the Year honors and it is the first time that the honorees played the same position.
Robison won a three-way quarterback battle to gain the starting job on opening day versus Oklahoma and he continued to progress as the season developed. In game two versus Air Force, he set an FAU single-game record for yards (471) and in completion percentage (82.5), going 33-40-0 with three touchdowns. He finished his freshman campaign with 12 games played, including 11 starts, and completed 192 of his 304 pass attempts for 2,540 yards and 12 passing scores. He also rushed for three TDs and was called upon to punt six times, averaging 54.7 yards per punt. His longest was for 63 yards.
His numbers were strong enough to see the Mesquite, Texas native currently ranked among the nation's best in completion percentage (63.2 percent) at No. 37 and he is No. 39 in completions percentage per game. While his completion percentages were strong, he also was No. 28 in passing yards per completion and was No. 22 nationally in yards per pass attempt.
With the honor, FAU Owls were acknowledged 13 times on C-USA postseason teams. Additionally, Harrison Bryant was not only listed as a First Team All-C-USA selection, but earned a spot on the C-USA All-Academic team as well.
