BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (3-7) will hit the road for the fourth time out of the last five games on Thursday. The Owls will face No. 22 Michigan State (9-1) in East Lansing with the tipoff set for 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE GAME
- FAU will hit the road for the fourth time out of the last five games on Thursday to take on No. 22 Michigan State
- The Owls will play their second consecutive game against a Michigan-based team. FAU took on Western Michigan last Sunday in Boca Raton before making the trek to East Lansing
- It will be the final non-conference road game of the season for the Owls. FAU will host the annual FAU Holiday Classic on Dec. 28-29 to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule
- Through 10 games, Myka Johnson Matthews is leading the Owls, scoring 9.3 points per game and Juliette Gauthier is right below her scoring 9.2 points per game. Abby Voss leads FAU in the rebounding department, bringing down 9.0 boards per game. Danneal Ford is averaging 3.6 assists per game as the team's leading assist earner
LAST TIME OUT
- The Owls hosted Western Michigan on Sunday for the first home game for FAU in 21 days. After starting the game with a 6-2 lead, the Broncos stormed back to take a 21-11 advantage in the first quarter. The Owls played from behind the rest of the game, but were able to cut it to one point heading into the final period. Western Michigan responded with a nine-point swing to claim the win
- Juliette Gauthier led the Owls with 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists
- Amber Gaston was on the cusp of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Abby Voss added eight points and nine boards
- FAU's freshmen accounted for 64.4 percent of the team's points and 63.8 percent of the Owls' rebounds
- For the second straight game, FAU outrebounded its opponent, this time claiming a 47-37 edge
SERIES HISTORY
- It will be the first meeting in program history between FAU and Michigan State on Thursday
- Michigan State is one of five first time opponents for the Owls on the 2018-19 schedule and the second straight following the matchup against Western Michigan on Sunday
SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
- The Spartans come into Thursday's game ranked No. 22 in both the AP and USA Today poll while boasting a 25th place ranking in the RPI
- With only one loss on the season, Michigan State's most notable win came against No. 3 Oregon on Dec. 9 in East Lansing
- The Spartans feature five players who are scoring in double figures this season. Leading the way is Jenna Allen who is averaging 15.5 points per game along with 7.6 rebounds. Shay Colley is the second leading scorer with a 13.4 points per game average
- Michigan State features the nation's sixth best assist/turnover ratio with a 1.49 mark
