HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team recorded its first ever win at Marshall in impressive fashion, sweeping the Thundering Herd (25-12, 25-19, 25-16) on Friday night. The Owls had lost in all three previous trips to Huntington. FAU improves on last season's win total, moving to 19-5 on the year and 9-2 in Conference USA.

With the score tied early in the first set, FAU went on a 9-2 run to take an 11-4 advantage. The Thundering Herd never threatened in the frame and the Owls closed on a 6-2 run, taking the set 25-12 on
Sigourney Kame's sixth kill.
Set number two went back-and-forth early. After a Marshall kill trimmed the FAU lead to 11-10, the Owls responded with six straight points to stretch the lead back out to 17-10. The Herd got to within four at 21-17, but FAU was able to take the set 25-19.
The Owls led by a single point, 6-5, in the third set when they reeled off a 9-1 rally to a 15-6 edge. Marshall narrowed the margin to five twice, but couldn't get any closer.
Abbi Reid's seventh kill of the evening gave FAU the win.
Notables
- Massiel Matos had a match-high 12 kills to go along with 10 digs for her team leading 11th double-double of the season.
- Sigourney Kame added 10 kills for the Owls.
- With 43 assists, Ivone Martinez passed Jeana Boyle for 10th place in the FAU single-season record book with 1,066 for the year.
- Sydney Nemtuda and Alex Cardona each posted 10 digs to tie Matos for the most on the team.
- As a team, the Owls recorded just 11 attack errors on the night, hitting .402 as a unit.
