As we head towards Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season, I wanted to take some time to thank you all for all that you do for Florida Atlantic athletics. We strive to Win it RIGHT by creating the very best student-athlete experience in the country and competing at the highest levels in the classroom, community and on the courts and fields of play. We could not accomplish this goal and build our reputation of Winning In Paradise without you. On behalf of the entire FAU athletic department, we want to thank you for your unwavering support.Â
Â
As we wrap up our fall sports and head into the winter sports season, I wanted to take some time to share some of the successes of our fall sports. Our women's soccer team, under the direction of C-USA Coach of the Year Patrick Baker, posted an 8-1-1 record and was named co-Conference USA regular-season champions, while reaching the semifinals of the C-USA Tournament. The volleyball team under the guidance of Fernanda Nelson has posted a historic season posting a 21-6 mark, including a school record 15 straight home wins. The Owl spikers head into the C-USA Tournament beginning Nov. 16 as the No. 4 seed and will open play with No. 5-seeded North Texas.Â
Â
Home Stretch for FAU Football
Your FAU football team has won back-to-back games with wins over in-state rival, Florida International to retain the Shula Bowl trophy and a decisive 34-15 Homecoming win over WKU. The Owls have seen some impressive milestones in the last several weeks with Devin "Motor" Singletary becoming the first player in program history with 4,000 rushing yards while ranking No. 6 in the NCAA with 64 career rushing touchdown. Additionally, head coach Lane Kiffin nabbed his 50th career win with the Shula Bowl victory.
Â
The Owls sport a 5-5 (3-3 C-USA) record entering the final two games of the season and have two chances to get bowl eligible as the season winds down. The first chance will be in a rematch of the 2017  C-USA championship on Thursday night in Denton, Texas against the Mean Green before the regular-season finale on Nov. 24 against Charlotte for Senior Night.Â
Â
FAU Hoops Is Back
November not only means Thanksgiving, but it signals the start of basketball season. The 2018-19 season will see the Owls usher in the Dusty May era of men's basketball. The May era has opened with a bang as the Owls are 2-0 for the first time since 2010-11 and knocked off in-state rival UCF, 80-79, with a buzzer-beater from Simeon Lepichev. Women's head coach Jim Jabir and his staff will embark on their second season on the sidelines this season looking to build on a solid first season.Â
Â
There will be plenty of reasons for fans to flock to The Burrow as both teams have lots of new faces. The men's team has 11 newcomers while women's team has eight fresh faces. There are numerous opportunities to see both teams at home this season and the addition of our Owl Flex Pack, which allows fans to choose 10 men's game for the low price of $70 and 10 women's games for $20, makes it convenient to see your Owls in action. For more information on the Owl Flex Pack call our ticket office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
