BOCA RATON, Fla. -Â The Florida Atlantic University rebounded from losing the first set to defeat Louisiana Tech in four sets (21-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-21) on Sunday. The Owls are now 4-1 in Conference USA play and 13-4 overall.

FAU held a small but stubborn lead early in the first set, when the Lady Techsters (6-14, 1-4) used a 9-3 run to pull ahead 19-15. The Owls got back to within one at 22-21, but three straight points for La Tech ended the frame.

After stumbling out of the blocks in set number two,
Ivone Martinez's serving led the Owls to five unanswered points, providing FAU with an 8-5 cushion. The advantage ballooned to as many as 11, and kills by
Emily Hise,
Cailea Gibbs and
Sydney Nemtuda evened the match at one set each.

FAU got out to a fast start in set three, building an early five-point edge, 8-3. La Tech trimmed the margin down to two at 9-7, but got no closer the rest of the way, with the Owls taking the set and the lead with a 25-18 triumph.

The early going of the fourth set was a tug-of-war, with neither side able to gain a significant advantage. The Lady Techsters won six of seven points and went up 14-9. FAU steadily narrowed the gap, pulling even on back-to-back kills by
Jordan Yauch, tying the score at 16-all. The score was tied at 17-17, when the Owls scored four in a row to take a 21-17 edge. The two teams exchanged points before
Sigourney Kame put down a kill to end the match.

Notables
- Sigourney Kame posted 19 kills for the second match in a row. That number, as well as her three total blocks, led all players.
- Abbi Reid had 18 kills and committed just one attack error, hitting .739 (18-1-23) on the day.
- Ivone Martinez dished out 57 assists and tallied seven digs.
- Sydney Nemtuda and Massiel Matos each notched eight kills in the match. Nemtuda also added seven digs.
- Jordan Yauch came in off the bench and was perfect in her six attempts.
- Alex Cardona registered 15 digs in the match.
- Prior to FAU's loss in the first set, the Owls had won 24 straight sets at home. The last time the Owls lost a set at home was Nov. 3, 2017 against UTSA.
