Men's Soccer Takes on FIU on Friday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will take on rival FIU on Friday night in Miami. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
LAST TIME OUT
The Owls (2-8, 1-3 C-USA) were last in action on Saturday against UAB at FAU Soccer Stadium. The two teams ended regulation tied, 1-1, sending the match to extra time. In the second overtime period, UAB found the back of the net to clinch the win. Alex Alexis scored the Owls goal in that match.
CATCHING UP WITH THE OWLS
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Hagay Jalon has started every match in-goal for the Owls this season. His 4.50 saves per game average is the 28th most nationally and leads C-USA. His 45 total saves are the second most in the league. The Haifa, Israel native has registered two clean sheets this season which is the fifth most in the league.
Alonso Coello Camarero is the team's leading assist earner with three on the season. That mark is tied for the ninth most in C-USA. Gonzalo Pena Barrasus leads the team in points with five on two goals and one assist. Alex Alexis has also scored two goals this season.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
FIU (5-7, 4-1 C-USA) is in a three-way tie for first place in the Conference USA standings along with Old Dominion and Kentucky. The Panthers had an 18-match unbeaten streak in conference play come to an end in their time out against Charlotte. FIU lost that match, 3-2.
The Panthers are led by Santiago Patino who has scored 10 goals this season along with one assist for 21 points.
UP NEXT FOR THE OWLS
FAU will travel to Jacksonville next Tuesday for the final non-conference game of the season. Then on Sunday, October 28 the Owls will host Kentucky for Senior Day. That match is set for 1 p.m.
