BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team opens its 2017 season under new head coach Joey Worthen as the Owls take on North Carolina State Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C.
The FAU roster boasts 17 returners from the 2016 campaign coupled with 11 newcomers from around the globe. The Owls will rely on new faces to make an instant impact, after returning just four players who scored and six players with more than 400 minutes played in 2016. With the loss of last year's starting keeper Phillip Hitpass to graduation, FAU looks to Daniel Ragoo and Luis Aranzazu to helm the net after combining for fewer than 200 minutes in goal in 2016.
NC State went 5-12 in 2016 with a mark of 3-7 at home. The Wolfpack is also under the direction of a new head coach as George Kiefer makes his NC State debut Friday.
Series history:
FAU is 0-2 all time against NC State with the last meeting being a 1-0 loss in Boca Raton on November 2, 2010.
