BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University women's track and field graduate student Jamika Glades was recently honored by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a member of their 2017 All-Academic Team.
Glades, who will graduate in December with her master's degree in taxation, shined on and off the track in her first season with the Owls. She earned a 3.45 GPA in her graduate studies, while advancing to the NCAA East Regionals in two different events (the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles).
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native ended her tenure at FAU second in the program's all-time record book at both hurdle distances. She ran a 13.48 in the 100 meters in May at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, and her season best in the 400 was a 58.65 at the Virginia Challenge in late April. Among East Regional competitors, she ranked No. 26 in the 400 meter hurdles and No. 44 in the 100 meter hurdles.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
