BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 25, 2017) - Florida Atlantic University's softball team split its two games against Charlotte in the first C-USA home series Saturday. The Owls lost the first game 6-2 in eight innings and won the second game 8-3.

Game 1 Highlights

Delaney Rickey and Tatum Buckley each had a hit and an RBI
Emily Lochten and Madisyn Palmer scored the only runs of the game
Buckley pitched the entire eight innings allowing six runs and 13 hits. Buckley moved to 3-3.

Key Plays
Palmer led off the game with a single from a bunt then advanced to second on an error from the pitcher. Palmer advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit from Rickey. The next and final run scored in the game for the Owls was by Lochten on a sacrifice fly. The 49ers scored two runs in the fifth inning leaving the game scoreless until the top of the eighth where they brought in four runs. Charlotte held FAU scoreless in the bottom of the eighth to close out the game.

Game 2 Highlights

Emily Lochten went 2-for-4 and had a homerun
Madisyn Palmer and Alex Miller each went 2-for-4
Delaney Rickey had four hits and two RBI's
Amanda Wilson gave up seven hits while only allowing three runs and had five strikeouts. Wilson's record is now 7-5.

Key Plays
In the first inning Lochten hit a two-run homer to left field, making it her 12th on the season. In the bottom of the second, there was five runs scored on six hits but the 49ers bounced back scoring two runs in the top of the fourth off a two run homer. The Owls scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth off of a Rickey single that scored Lochten.
