BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 10, 2017) - Florida Atlantic University's softball team got themselves a pair of wins on Friday, beating Brown 7-0 and defeating Illinois State 7-5.

"In the first game today we were in control and Mia Olson pitched pretty well. We hit really well today in both games and we scored some runs. It was great to see some of the new players hit some homeruns tonight. Lauren Whitt just crushed the ball all night for us which set us up for some great opportunities and we capitalized."

Game 1 Highlights

Emily Lochten was 2-for-4 with three RBI's and had a homerun
Mia Olson was 2-for-3 and had a homerun
Alex Miller and Amanda Peck were both 2-for-2
Olson, who held Brown to six hits, also added six strikeouts.

Key Plays
The Owls scored two in the second inning from Miller and Lauren Whitt. In the fourth inning, Lochten and Olson each a homerun to left field. Madisyn Palmer got on base in the sixth inning from a bunt then stole second. She advanced to third on a error by the left fielder, and proceeded to score on another error from the catcher.

Delaney Rickey and Madisyn Palmer went 2-for-3
Lauren Whitt went 2-for-3 and had a homerun
Amanda Wilson only allowed six hits and is now 6-4 on the year
Amanda Peck, Alex Miller, and Mia Olson each added a hit

Key Plays
In the second inning of the game ,Whitt hit a homerun to right field. It was the first homerun of her career. The Owls knocked in five runs in the third inning on five hits scoring their final runs of the game. The Redbirds made a late run in the game by scoring three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth but just came up short in the final two innings.
