Head Coach Charlie Partridge
On the fourth down late in the game...
"We got down to their 30-yard line and had the fourth-and-one, if we get that we probably ice the game."
"I was confident (in the play call). Ball State had a young man get hurt after the third down (play), so (the coaching staff) had a chance to talk going into the fourth down play. I felt like we had a really good play called. One of (Ball State's) guys ended up getting on top of the block and getting the stop. It was a good play."
On FAU's defense…
"There were some things we did well, and some things we need to improve on. We got some good stops, just didn't the stop we needed in the fourth quarter."
On moving forward to FIU…
"You either have 24 hours to celebrate or 24 to get over a tough loss emotionally. That's all you have. You handle it any other way and you have no shot to continue to get better."
On the offensive line…
"I do want to compliment (Offensive Line) Coach Justice for doing everything he could (with all the injuries on the offensive line) and I also want to compliment (Offensive Coordinator) Travis Trickett for doing everything they can to make some things happen."
On the offense…
"Kalib (Woods) is playing at a high level. It was good to see Pico (Harrison) get a big play. We know Pico can make those explosive plays. (Jason) Driskel did a lot of things with a lot of confidence. Ball State called a lot of blitzes and this offensive line did a nice job of getting hats on hats most of the night. It gave Driskel a chance to step up and deliver throws and Kalib has a lot of trust from Driskel."
On playing better this game…
"It was a really good first half. I played well, but not well enough. That two-minute drive at the end was the worst drive I've had all year. I didn't really give our guys a chance. You can play alright for a half, but that's not enough."
On Kerrith Whyte…
"He is a great player for us, just like all our other guys out there. He's huge. Whenever he had the ball he was good and he has three more years here."
On the last drive…
"I didn't give my guys a chance to do what they do best, which is make plays. As a quarterback with two minutes (left in the game), you have to be at your best, and I wasn't tonight so I have to change my game.
