FAU Celebrated the Spring Graduation of 38 Student-Athletes

Three times an academic year Florida Atlantic University's athletic department pauses to celebrate a student-athletes greatest individual accomplishment - graduation. Last week, 38 Owls completed the requirements for their degree and several accepted their diplomas after already securing their first jobs.
"We salute the 38 student-athletes who earned their degrees this past week," said Pat Chun, FAU's vice president and director of athletics. "We've been fortunate to witness this group grow into great leaders, teammates and citizens. They've left a mark on our athletics program through all their great accomplishments throughout their time at FAU."
There were a total of six graduation ceremonies held between Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6. Nearly 500 student-athletes competed during the 2015-16 academic year and of those student-athletes, 26 graduated in December 2015, 38 last week and 16 are projected to graduate at the conclusion of the summer term for a total of 80 graduates in the 2015-16 academic year.

- 1 master's degree (social work)
- 17 teams
- 20 hailed from Florida (two from Boca Raton, two from Delray and two from Miramar)
- 6 countries (two from Spain)
- 9 states were represented (two from Pennsylvania)
- 4 participated in NCAA post-season competition
- 10 earned all-conference honors
- 26 graduated during the December ceremony to bring the year to date total to 64
- This senior class has led their respective teams through more than 6,500 community service hours in the last two academic years
