No. 24 Softball Completes Sweep of FIU 4-0

MIAMI, Fla. - (April 10, 2016) -- The no. 24 Florida Atlantic University softball team used a big fourth inning to beat rival FIU 4-0 on Sunday. The Owls completed the season sweep of the Panthers with the win. FAU is now 33-7 overall and 10-2 in Conference USA play this season.
Notables
• Kylee Hanson threw a complete game, four-hit shutout to pick up her 17th win of the season.
• Melissa Martinez went 3-for-3 with a RBI and scored a run.
• Madisyn Palmer went 2-for-3 for the second straight game.
• Tatum Buckley and Delaney Rickey also had hits for the Owls.
• The Owls' 33-7 record in the team's best record since 2002.
Key Plays
The game was scoreless in the top of the sixth inning when Carnesha Thompson and Emily Lochten both drew one-out walks. Melissa Martinez doubled to center to score both runners before scoring on a Buckley fielder's choice. Later in the inning, Samantha Lageyre scored when Alex Miller put down a successful squeeze bunt.
