Baseball's Rally Comes Up Short Versus Georgetown

BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" The Florida Atlantic University baseball team plated eight runs in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't overcome a ten-run deficit as the No. 15 Owls suffered their first loss of the season 13-11 against Georgetown.
Senior Christian Dicks went 3-for-5 with three doubles and an RBI while CJ Chatham also went 3-for-5 with an RBI. David McKay was tagged with the loss, allowing five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
The Hoyas (4-4) got on top early with a four-run second inning, featuring a two-run home run. Georgetown tacked on another run in the top of the third and fourth innings, but left two runners stranded in each frame.
Billy Endris led off the fourth with a double and came in to score on a single by CJ Chatham to get the Owls (7-1) on the board. Christian Dicks and Sean Labsan each doubled to drive in two more runs, cutting the Georgetown lead to 6-3.
With two outs in the fifth, the Hoyas rallied for six runs on five hits with the help of an error to inflate the advantage to 12-3, the largest margin by which FAU has trailed all season.
After Georgetown tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth, the bats came to life for the Owls. Gunnar Lambert led off with FAU's sixth double of the game and advanced on an Austin Langham walk. Stephen Kerr then belted his second home run of the year to cut the lead to 12-6. Chatham singled and Dicks doubled for the third time in the game, setting up an RBI single by Esteban Puerta. Three consecutive walks put to more runs on the board before Langham laced an RBI single to reach base as the tying run. A wild pitch brought Brett Lashley across the plate before back-to-back strikeouts ended the night with Langham stranded on second.
