March 26, 2016 BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University's football team moved its practice to FAU Stadium where the Owls divided their time between a normal day's practice and a scrimmage which was played before high school juniors, who were on campus as part of the "2016 Junior Day".
Coaches Quote
Head Coach Charlie Partridge on Junior Day
- "I wish I could talk specifics (NCAA rules prohibit speaking about and identifying prospective student athletes) because I was truly taken back by the number and the quality of the kids from all over really, from I-4 area down for our junior day. It was awesome. A bunch of them stayed for the scrimmage, some went through our junior day tours and had a great experience. It was fun.
What impressed you about the juniors?
- "(They were) just such a high quality group that had so many opportunities to go to other junior days and to go see other practices today. You can feel a belief in the direction that our program and our University is going. They recognize the growth pattern that our entire University is on and I'm excited to have them here. You can feel the excitement from the players and their families."
Quarterback Competitions
- "I think that both of them (Jason Driskel and Daniel Parr) are working with a strong learning curve. We have thrown a big percentage of the offense in. You can feel (Jason) Driskel's experience and you can feel Daniel's (Parr) desire to learn the offense quickly. So, both of them are doing really good things and I think that it is pretty even right now. We are going to continue to rotate them with the ones."
The word standards was used by Offensive Coordinator Travis Trickett. What is the standard?
- "We are setting a standard to work towards championships. That is our ultimate goal, to win championships. We want to win bowl games. We want to fight for a conference championship. That standard across the board and that expectation has been set and we are going to demand that every day. To our kids' credit, today, there was enough things that we could have done better, where we don't feel like we had a championship level performance on the practice field, today. So, I'm proud of the fact that those standards are being set, but we have to fight to meet them every single time we step on the field in all positions."
Highlights
- Ocie Rose batted down a pass.
- Marcus Clark had a big gain on second and long. The chains were moved on the next down and two plays later, Clark ran for more than 45 yards for the touchdown.
- Tevin Homer had an interceptions that broke up a would-be touchdown.
