BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic Women's tennis hosted Northern Illinois University on Thursday and came away with a 6-1 victory. The Owls are three and one in their last four matches, improving their record to 9-6 overall. FAU won the match handily, winning the doubles point, and five of the six singles positions.
FAU junior Bianca Biglione defeated Cristina Alvarez 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 at the No. 2 position. Biglione is 13-3 on the season and leads the team in wins. FAU sophomore Marisa Ruiz defeated Abigail Dekkinga 6-3, 6-2. The win is the ninth for Ruiz. FAU junior Heather Walton defeated Evelyn Youel 6-1, 6-2. Walton improves to 9-4 on season. FAU sophomore Jennifer Leib defeated Michelle Erasmus 6-1, 6-4. Leib improved to 6-4 on season. FAU junior Cassie Pough defeated Meghan Montgomerie 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
FAU returns to action Tuesday March 22, at home against Hillsdale. All FAU home matches are played at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, FL.
