The Florida Atlantic University softball team extended its undefeated streak to 12 with a 6-0 defeat of Michigan State before dropping a hard fought, 8-7 loss to Maryland at the FAU Invitational on Saturday.
Game 1 vs. Michigan State Notables
Amanda Wilson threw a complete game four-hitter for her third win of the season.
Delaney Rickey, Christina Martinez and Emily Lochten all had two hits in the game.
Melissa Martinez, Tatum Buckley, Mickey Bell and Sarah Bencivenga also had hits for the Owls.

Key Plays
Lochten's sacrifice fly drove in Rickey for the Owls' first run in the top of the first. Christina Martinez scored on a Spartan error in the top of the third, before her twin sister Melissa doubled in Lochten to put the Owls up 3-0. Bell drove in Buckley with a bunt double in the fifth, before Bencivenga's pinch-hit single scored Bell and Samantha Lageyre to account for the final score.

Game 2 vs. Maryland Notables
The Owls scored in the seventh, ninth and 10th innings to avoid defeat before falling short in the 11th.
Lochten led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homerun to tie the game at 3.
Rickey beat out a throw home to tie the score at 5 in the ninth inning.
Freshman Lauren Whitt was the hero of the Owls' 10th inning rally, singling back up the middle to score Bencivenga and tie the game at 6.
After the Terrapins scored twice in the 11th, Lochten fouled out behind the plate. Carnesha Thompson advanced on the play and scored on an errant throw by the Maryland catcher. However, the Owls were unable to complete a fourth comeback.
The two teams combined to leave 26 batters on base. FAU left the bases loaded on three separate occasions.
It's FAU first extra-inning loss since a 5-4, 10-inning loss to North Texas in the Conference USA Tournament on May 8, 2014.
