BOCA RATON, Fla. - For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Florida Atlantic University softball scored in its final at bat to force extra innings. This time, the Owls (13-1) were able to complete the rally with a 4-3, eight-inning win over Boston University at the FAU Invitational on Sunday.
Notables
• Kylee Hanson threw three scoreless innings in relief of Tatum Buckley to pick up her sixth win of the season.
• Delaney Rickey went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
• Lauren Whitt went 2-for-2 at the plate.
• Christina Martinez drove in two runs on the day.
Key Plays
After a Christina Martinez grounder scored Kiley Southall in the eighth inning, Carnesha Thompson doubled to right center, driving in Rickey. Christina Martinez appeared to score the game-winning run, but was called out, sending the game to extra innings. Emily Lochten was placed on second base in the bottom of the eighth. Lochten stole third, then scored on Buckley's squeeze bunt, giving the Owls the win.
