Softball to Host Strike Out Cancer Tournament

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Feb. 17, 2016) - The Florida Atlantic University softball team will t host the 10th annual Strike Out Cancer tournament this weekend. Tournament action begins on Friday, Feb. 13 at noon and FAU faces Northern Illinois at 4:30 p.m. in its first game of the weekend. The Owls will face UConn in their second game on Friday. On Saturday, FAU will play a second game against NIU before facing Florida A&M in their final game of the weekend. The Owls went 5-0 last weekend. It is their best start since 2002. Junior Kylee Hanson threw a no-hitter, picked up two wins and two saves and was named ESPNW National Player of the Week for her efforts.
History: NIU has won all three previous meetings with the Owls. FAU leads the all-time series with UConn 5-2. Saturday's game against Florida A&M will be the 19th in school history. The Owls lead 14-4, including a 7-2 win in last year's NCAA Regional in Gainesville.
