Kylee Hanson Named ESPNW National Player of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University junior Kylee Hanson was named ESPNW National Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday. Her efforts helped the Owls start the season 5-0 for the first time since 2002. Read the accompanying article here.
Hanson, the C-USA Preseason Pitcher of the Year, appeared in four games at the FAU Kick-Off Classic over the weekend. She started off the season by throwing a complete game five-hitter in a 6-1 victory against (RV) Hofstra on Friday night. Hanson struck out 14 in the victory. She made a relief appearance on Saturday when she tossed a 1.1 innings in relief against Wright State for her first save of the season. She immediately turned around and started FAU's second game on Saturday, when she threw her second career no-hitter, this one against Tulsa. Hanson capped off the weekend by throwing two innings out of the bullpen against Penn State on Sunday for her second save of the year. For the weekend, Hanson went 2-0 with two saves and 27 strikeouts with a 0.40 ERA and just one walk and didn't allow a hit for the last 10.2 innings she pitched.
Hanson was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The Owls will host the 10th annual Strike Out Cancer Tournament this weekend.
