Owls Nipped by UT-Martin 82-81

MARTIN, Tenn. - (November 29, 2016) - A three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left was the game winner in the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team's 82-81 loss to UT-Martin on Tuesday night.
The Turning Point
An Adonis Filer three put the Owls (2-4) up six, 78-72, with 2:06 left in the game. UT-Martin went on a 7-0 run, capped off by a Matthew Butler three-point play, to take a 79-78 lead with 17 seconds left.
The Finish
Out of a timeout, Jailyn Ingram found Gerdarius Troutman for a triple that allowed FAU to regain the lead, 81-79, with just six seconds remaining. However, the Skyhawks (6-2) responded with a three-pointer of their own with just 1.2 seconds on the clock to retake the edge. FAU was unable to get a potential game-winning shot off and UT-Martin took the win.
Notables
- Jailyn Ingram scored a career high 21 points, his third double-digit scoring game in a row.
- Ronald Delph had 14 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
- Nick Rutherford had a career high 17 points and tied his career high with nine assists.
- Adonis Filer came off the bench to register 10 points and added four assists.
- The Owls shot a season best 57.4 percent from the floor as a team.
