Cross Country Turns Eye to Postseason after Completing USF Invite

TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country put a bow on the 2016 regular season with the conclusion of Friday night's USF Invitational.
Men's Notables:
- The men saw Jonathan Werble cross the finish line first, in 27th, running the 8K in 27:46
- A parliament of Owls finished in quick succession: Conor Fitzgerald (35th, 28:17), Lachlan Shiver (36th, 28:21) and John Marting (38th, 28:28)
- Ross Rabalais (29:28.74) and Cory Moogerfeld (29:29.51) nearly had a photo finish
Women's Notables:
- The women had two individuals finish in the top 15 and two more in the top 30, running an average time of 19:33 and finishing fourth out of nine Division I teams (and 17 teams overall)
- Pacing the squad was Liz Wellman, 11th with a time of 19:04, while coming in 14th was Christina Schultz, just behind her teammate at 19:13
- Bethany Hardcastle was just outside of the 20 top finishers, 22nd at 19:33
- Chloe Sell was 29th (19:53) while Sophia Clark came in in 31st (20:02)

"While the long drive on race day wasn't ideal, we were able to beat a number of Division I schools and had several people run personal bests," said Head Coach Alex Smolka. "Overall, things are looking good for C-USA Championship in two weeks!"
What's Next:
