BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" The Florida Atlantic University football team began its second week of fall camp with a consistent and sharp practice on Tuesday.
Nate Terry made a nice leaping catch of a Jaquez Johnson pass during receiving drills midway through the session. During goal-line drills, Daniel Parr connected with Dustin Bowens on a pass and then scored on a QB keeper.
Kerrith Whyte also sliced through the defense for a score during that portion of practice. FAU's defense also was able to make plays, as Herb Miller leapt into the air for an interception. Miller's play was one of the reasons defensive coordinator Roc Bellatoni praised the secondary.
"The secondary is doing really well. We're going to have good depth there," said Bellatoni. "I'm really happy with that group."
Johnson connected with Jenson Stoshak on a long pass during team drills. Shortly afterwards, a rainstorm drenched the practice field, making ball handling and footing an issue.
FAU will open the 2015 season at Tulsa on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Owls will return home Friday, Sept. 11 when FAU plays host to Miami at 8 p.m. The game will air on Fox Sports 1. All games will air on ESPN West Palm 106.3 FM and on www.fausports.com.
Season tickets, as well as Miami single-game tickets, are on sale and can be purchased by calling 1-866-FAU-Owls or by visiting ticketmaster.com or www.fausports.com. Approximately 1,500 tickets remain for the FAU versus Miami contest.
