After earning an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the Florida Atlantic University baseball team will open the Gainesville Regional Friday against USF.
The Owls (40-17) were named the No. 2 seed in the four-team regional comprised of all Florida schools. FAU finished the season second in Conference USA and won a pair of contests in the C-USA Tournament.
USF (33-24-1) also received an at-large bid to become the No. 3 seed. The Bulls went 13-11 in the American Athletic Conference and are 3-3 in neutral site games this season.
Senior Drew Jackson gets the call to start for FAU after a 6-3 record in the regular season. The righty was named Second Team All-Conference USA with a team-best 2.10 ERA and has dealt 52 strikeouts while walking just 15.
Jimmy Herget is projected to start for USF with a 9-3 record and a 2.95 ERA.
Both teams are making their 11th appearances in the NCAA Tournament with FAU's last regional coming in 2013 and USF's in 2002. FAU and USF are battling for the first time since 2009.
