BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team climbed into second place in the Conference USA standings with its 6-4 victory at Western Kentucky Friday night.

The Owls (38-15, 19-10 C-USA) saw starter Drew Jackson pitch a near-flawless outing, striking out four while allowing just two hits in five shutout innings of work.

Senior Ricky Santiago lit up the scoreboard with his team-leading eighth home run of the year to plate Billy Endris, putting FAU up 2-0 in the opening inning.

Endris extended the lead as he singled in the fifth and moved to third on back-to-back walks by Brendon Sanger and Santiago. Junior Roman Collins hit a sacrifice fly to plate Endris, earning his 50th RBI of the season.

After a single and back-to-back walks by Santiago and Esteban Puerta in the seventh, Christian Dicks laced a two-out single into center to drive in a pair of runs, increasing the advantage to 5-0.

WKU (24-28, 10-19 C-USA) got on the board in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run by Ryan Church on the first pitch of the inning.

The Owls responded in the eighth as Stephen Kerr walked and stole second to get into scoring position. Endris roped a single to right, allowing Kerr to score his C-USA-high 51st run of the year.

The Hilltoppers rallied for two runs in the eighth and scored another in the ninth before Seth McGarry struck out the potential tying run to earn the save.
