HUNTINGTON, W. V. - Kylee Hanson extended her shutout streak to 20 innings and Emily Lochten had five RBI as the Florida Atlantic University softball team split a doubleheader with Marshall on Saturday.

FAU (30-15-1, 11-5 C-USA) won the first game of the day 3-0. The only runs of the game came in the top of the sixth when Lindsey Shell led off with an infield single and advanced to second on a Thundering Herd error. Christina Martinez beat out a bunt single to put runners on the corners for Carnesha Thompson. Thompson's sacrifice fly scored Shell and allowed Martinez to advance to second, bringing Lochten to the plate. The freshman roped a base hit that drove in Martinez. Melissa Martinez's hit allowed Lochten to come around to score for the final tally.

In the circle, Hanson threw a complete game four-hitter for her 13th win of the season as Marshall was unable to advance a runner past second base.

The Thundering Herd rebounded to win game two 6-5 in a back and forth affair. Marshall (29-11, 10-6) drew first blood, scoring a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Shell reached on another Marshall error in the third, followed by another infield single for Christina Martinez. Lochten notched two more RBI with a single that allowed Shell and Martinez to score and put FAU ahead 2-1. The Owls loaded the bases later in the inning, but a popup ended the frame.

Marshall answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, on a FAU error and a sacrifice fly to regain the advantage, 3-2. The Herd would tack on two more runs in the fourth to push the lead to 5-2. That score wouldn't change until the top of the seventh inning. Christina Martinez led off with a single to right center.

After a Thompson strikeout, Lochten belted a two-run homer to center to cut the deficit to 5-4. Melissa Martinez reached and advanced to second on the third Marshall error of the game. Laura Mann singled to center to tie the game, but was thrown out at second. A Tatum Buckley lineout retired the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Herd's leadoff hitter beat out an infield single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and then came around to score on a walkoff single.
