SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Sophomore CJ Chatham hit a home run and a three-RBI triple on Sunday to lift the Florida Atlantic University baseball team to a 9-5 win at UTSA to take the series 2-1.

The Owls (22-6, 6-3 C-USA) move back into second place in the Conference USA standings with the victory.

FAU blasted three home runs to increase its season total to 18, surpassing last season's mark of 16 at the halfway point of 2015.

The Owls took a 2-0 lead after Chatham and Christian Dicks each tallied solo home runs in the third and fourth innings, respectively.

After UTSA got on the board in the fifth, Ricky Santiago drew a walk and came around to score three batters later on a Chatham sacrifice fly to go up 3-1 in the sixth. The Roadrunners responded with a two-run rally to knot the game at three apiece. The Owls opened the flood gates in the seventh, forcing UTSA to use five different pitchers in the frame. Santiago hit an RBI double before an intentional walk loaded the bases. Chatham stepped to the plate and lined a ball off the center-field wall to clear the bags, giving FAU a 7-3 advantage. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases once more before the 11th batter of the inning, Brett Lashley, was hit by a pitch to plate Chatham to increase the lead to 8-3.

With one out in the eighth, junior Roman Collins sent a 1-0 pitch soaring over the right-center wall to end the FAU scoring at 9-3.

UTSA threatened in the eighth, scoring two runs on two hits before the Owls were able to shut them down to take the series.

Brandon Rhodes dealt a perfect game into the fourth, striking out a pair in the no-decision. Seth McGarry picked up the win, allowing four runs in three innings with three strikeouts.

Chatham was 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored while Dicks and Santiago each scored twice.
