HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team was unable to overcome timely Hofstra shooting in a 68-54 loss on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Owls to 2-10, while the Pride improved to 7-4.
The Turning Point
Jeantal Cylla made a pair of free throws to pull FAU within two, 23-21, with 2:48 left in the first half. The Pride went on a 22-4 run over the next six minutes of game action to go up by 20 and the Owls didn't get closer than 12 the rest of the game.
Notables
• Jackson Trapp's 14 points led the Owls. Marquan Botley was the only other Owl in double figures with 10.
• Nick Rutherford and Adonis Filer each had five assists to lead the Owls.
• The Pride outrebounded FAU 47-28 and had three players in double figures. Denton Koon and Ameen Tanksley had 11 each. Rutherford had seven boards to lead the Owls.
• Trapp made four three-pointers on the evening, giving him 146 for his career, passing Paul Graham for seventh place all-time in program history.
