HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team was unable to overcome timely Hofstra shooting in a 68-54 loss on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Owls to 2-10, while the Pride improved to 7-4.
The Turning Point
Jeantal Cylla made a pair of free throws to pull FAU within two, 23-21, with 2:48 left in the first half. The Pride went on a 22-4 run over the next six minutes of game action to go up by 20 and the Owls didn't get closer than 12 the rest of the game.
Notables
Jackson Trapp's 14 points led the Owls. Marquan Botley was the only other Owl in double figures with 10.
Nick Rutherford and Adonis Filer each had five assists to lead the Owls.
The Pride outrebounded FAU 47-28 and had three players in double figures. Denton Koon and Ameen Tanksley had 11 each. Rutherford had seven boards to lead the Owls.
Trapp made four three-pointers on the evening, giving him 146 for his career, passing Paul Graham for seventh place all-time in program history.
