The Florida Atlantic men's soccer team will travel to face Conference USA opponent the University of New Mexico (7-5-4, C-USA 1-4-2). This is the final game of the season for FAU, if they secure a win they have a chance to lock-up a spot in the Conference USA tournament.
Previous match: In the last home match of the season on Wednesday night, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (2-11-2, C-USA 1-6) won 1-0 to in-state opponent UNF (7-6-1, A-SUN 3-0-1). Junior Thomas Gallitz was able to capitalize on a corner kick from senior Michael Quinn. Gallitz rose up over the defense and headed the ball back post, as the Owls took the lead 1-0 in the 55th minute. Goalkeeper Phillip Hitpass records his third shutout of the season, with two saves in the match.
History: The Owls have only faced the Lobos twice in history, with an overall record of 0-2. In 2014, the Owls fell to the #16 ranked Lobos 2-0. The Owls played tight defense in the first half until the Lobos struck with a little over a minute remaining to bring them to 1-0. The shot from New Mexico's Kevin Correa just slipped by FAU goalkeeper Theo Jamilloux. New Mexico's second goal came off a penalty kick in the 63rd minute. Braxton Fuster had FAU's only shot on goal for the night, while the Owls tallied a total of five shots overall in the match. Jamilloux had six saves on the night to bring his season total to 44.
