RUSTON, La. - (Nov. 14, 2015) â€" Behind 13 kills from freshman Abbi Reid, the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team capped off its regular season with a sweep (25-18, 26-24, 25-13) of Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
Reid also hit .417 in the match, tying her with Brittney Brown for highest among the Owls (18-10, 10-6 Conference USA). Senior Kristina Rankovic was also in double figures as she posted 10 kills.
The Owls held Louisiana Tech (10-20, 3-13) to just a .089 attack percentage, thanks in large part to nine total team blocks. Brown led the way with four blocks in her final regular season match and freshman Gabriela Martin posted three.
Raveen Golston led the Owls with 11 digs on Saturday night. She was joined in double figures by Rankovic and Ivone Martinez, who both had 10. Rankovic's double-double was her 10th of the year. The first set was tied at five, but the Owls scored the next four points, which propelled them to a 25-18 win. Set number two was tight the entire way. FAU led 22-20 before the Lady Techsters tied the score at 22-22. The two teams exchanged the next four points before back-to-back kills by Martin and Brown put FAU up two sets to none.
The score was tied at eight in the third set when FAU reeled off seven straight points to take control of the frame and eventually won the set 25-13 to clinch the match.
FAU will now head to the Conference USA Tournament, hosted by UTSA. For further updates, stay tuned to fausports.com.
