SAN ANTONIO, Texas â€" The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team dropped a tough four-set decision to North Texas, 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-20) in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament on Friday.
FAU (18-11), who was the tournament's No. 5 seed, hit .406 in the first set, but hit just .167 for the rest of the match. Fourth-seeded North Texas hit .386 on the night. Kristina Rankovic led the Owls with 13 kills in the final match of her career. She finishes with 503 career kills. Ivone Martinez posted 27 assists in the match.
Nathalie Rosado led the Owls with 19 digs, while Raveen Golston added 14 in her final match. Rankovic notched 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.
Gabriela Martin's 93 block assists are the fifth most in a single season in school history. Brittney Brown ends her career with a .300 hitting percentage, tied for second best in school history. The Owls are expected to return 13 players for the 2016 season.
