Bethany Hardcastle will represent the Florida Atlantic University's women's cross country team at the 2015 NCAA South Regional Championships hosted by the University of Alabama on Friday, Nov. 13 in Tuscaloosa. Hardcastle will compete in the women's 6K scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. at The Harry Pritchett Running Park.
Hardcastle led the Owls in the 5K at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships on Oct. 31 with a 37th-place finish. The sophomore crossed the finish line in 18:57.3, setting a personal best. Where she broke her previous personal best set at the FSU Invitational, finishing 17th overall and second for FAU (19:03.90). Another top finish this season came at the USF Invitational, where Hardcastle finished 16th overall, finishing second for FAU with a final time of 22:52.20.
Women's teams from 36 schools across the country will compete on Friday with a total of 276 female student-athletes competing for the top finishes.
"Bethany has come in as a freshman and made an immediate impact! She's been in our top 3 the entire season and was our #1 at the C-USA Champs! Racing at the NCAA regional champs will provide her invaluable experience, which will help her a lot during our upcoming indoor and outdoor track seasons and for cross-country next year." Said Cross Country Head Coach Alex Smolka.
