Florida Atlantic men's soccer will host back-to-back Conference USA opponents, as they take on Charlotte (4-4-2, C-USA 2-0-1) on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. and then play Marshall (4-7, C-USA 0-4) on Monday, Oct.19 at 7 p.m.
Previous match: The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team played in-state rival Florida Gulf Coast University to a scoreless tie on Tuesday night. The match was a physical, defensive-minded affair. The first shot of the match didn't come until the 16th minute of action. The rugged style of play resulted in the two teams combining for nine cards in the match. FGCU outshot the Owls 10-3 on the night, with both sides putting two shots on goal. Phillip Hitpass made a pair of saves to pick up his first shutout of the season.
History: FAU's all-time record against Charlotte is 1-2. Last year the Owls traveled to face Charlotte and lost 4-1. The Owls lost two players in the first half to red cards, as Charlotte was able to take advantage of FAU in the second half. Scoring three goals, they were able to take a 4-0 lead in the 81st minute. FAU caught a break and was able to score off a Charlotte own goal in the 85th.
In 2013, where they fell 6-0. Overall, FAU trailed behind Charlotte in offensive opportunities, taking five shots versus the 49ers' 13 and only one corner kick versus their three. Jamilloux finished the night with three saves.
The Owls faced the Thundering Herd in 2014, where they were able to secure their only victory of the season winning 3-0. With goals coming from Jason Fitzgerald and Ramon Whittaker. In 2013, they finished in a 0-0 tie after double overtime. FAU's all-time record against Marshall is 2-2-1.
