The Owls (1-1-1) will face Cal Poly on Sunday at 3 p.m. EST. Claire Emslie, Asta Arnadottir and Taylor Townsend placed shots for FAU, but were unable to find the back of the net. Sydney Drinkwater made seven saves, but allowed four goals against the powerful Pepperdine offense that recorded 22 shots.
The Waves (3-0) scored in each the 17th, 35th and 38th minutes to take a 3-0 advantage at the half, outshooting the Owls 13-1 in the first frame.
FAU came out aggressive in the second half when Emslie took a shot less than a minute into the period. After Townsend's shot was blocked, Pepperdine recovered to score in the 64th minute, ending the scoring at 4-0.
