Volleyball to Host Season Opening FAU Invitational

Aug. 27, 2014 BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will open its 2014 regular season at home for the second year in a row, hosting the FAU Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29 and Saturday, Aug. 30 at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
FAU will finish the tournament on Saturday at 3 p.m., when the Owls face Stetson. The Owls defeated the Hatters in straight sets in last year's meeting between the two teams.
Bethune-Cookman, McNeese and Stetson will make up the rest of the field. FAU went 2-1 in the 2013 home tournament, defeating Southeastern Louisiana and Bethune-Cookman, but losing to Jacksonville. The Owls will feature an experienced roster for 2014, with 10 players back from last year's team that qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in seven years. FAU will face BCU in its season opener on Friday at 12:30 p.m. McNeese will be the Owls' second opponent on Friday, with the match starting at 7 p.m.
