Owls Down BC Diamondbacks 19-1 Wednesday

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team racked up nine extra-base hits as the Owls defeated the British Columbia Diamondbacks 19-1 in an exhibition on Wednesday night.
The FAU pitching staff dominated as well, allowing just one hit in the game, that coming in the first-inning hit. The Owls retired each of the final 18 Diamondback batters and recorded 12 strikeouts in the nine-inning matchup.
Sophomores CJ Chatham and Sean Labsan, the starting pitcher, each homered for the Owls while Ricky Santiago and Stephen Kerr each hit two doubles. Brendon Sanger and Jose Bonilla Traverso also hit doubles as newcomer Ryan Miller tripled in his first action at FAU.
Newcomers Robbie Coursel, Alex House, Devon Carr and Stephen Chamblee each saw time on the hill in the FAU pinstripes. Chatham pitched for the first time at FAU and struck out the side in the ninth on just ten pitches.
FAU will hold its annual Halloween practice on Oct. 31. Fans are invited to come watch the Owls go through practice while wearing costumes. The Owls then hold the Alumni Game on Saturday, Nov. 1 before partaking in the FAU World Series Nov. 3-7. More details will be announced soon on FAUSports.com.
