Sell and Mellupe Named FAU Players of the Week

Florida Atlantic University women's cross country runner Chloe Sell and volleyball's Liene Mellupe have been named FAU Players of the Week for their outstanding performances over the weekend.
The Owls captured second place out of 29 teams in the Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday with junior Chloe Sell leading the way. Sell was FAU's top finisher, coming in fourth out of 250 runners with a final time of 18:11.37. She has been the Owls' top finisher in the 5k in nearly every meet this season, coming in 12th out of 269 competitors at the Mountain Dew Invitational and third in the USF Collegiate Invitational. Sell was also named Conference USA Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the USF Collegiate Invitational.
Mellupe recorded her fifth double-double of the year with 16 kills and 13 digs in the FAU volleyball team's four set win over Charlotte on Sunday. The senior's 16 kills were a season high for her. For the season, Mellupe has averaged 1.91 kills per set and a team high 3.29 digs per set. The team is currently 13-6 overall and is fourth in C-USA with a 4-2 record.
Women's cross country will compete in the Westminster Academy Collegiate Invitational in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. Volleyball will host C-USA opponent Southern Miss this Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the FAU Arena.
