Coral Gables, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team suffered just its third midweek loss of the season in a 6-4 setback to the University of Miami on Wednesday, April 24 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Hurricanes (28-17) got a two-out, two-run single from Brandon Lopez in the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie. The host tied the game on a RBI single from Chantz Mack in the sixth inning.

FAU (26-15) scored three runs in the second inning to take a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Mitch Morales started the scoring with a single to center field to plate junior Tyler Rocklein. Junior Sean Murrell followed with a sacrifice fly to score senior Mike Spano. Senior Nathan Pittman capped the frame with a RBI single that scored sophomore Ricky Santiago.

Miami tied the game at 3-3 on a Lopez RBI single to right field in the bottom of the second inning.

However, Rocklein gave the Owls a 4-3 advantage in the third inning with a double to the right-center field gap. The base hit scored freshman Brendon Sanger from first base and was Rocklein's second double of the game.

Miami starter Javi Salas improved to 5-4 on the season scattering six hits over eight innings. Eric Nedeljkovic tossed a scoreless ninth inning to secure the victory. v FAU's Kyle Miller allowed five hits in four innings in the starting assignment. Sophomore Bo Logan allowed one run in two innings, while senior Michael Sylvestri fell to 3-1 on the season by pitching the seventh inning.

Offensively, Rocklein paced the six-hit offensive attack with two hits and one run batted in.

Miami's Lopez drove in three runs and tallied three hits. Alex San Juan also had two hits in the win.
