BOCA RATON, Fla. - With a spot in the 2013 Conference USA Championship Tournament in the balance, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team is set to take on Marshall and East Carolina on the road on Oct. 18 and 20, respectively.
The Owls (2-8-4, 0-2-3 C-USA) are tied with ECU for seventh in the East Division, four points behind the qualifying fifth-place teams, including Marshall.
The Thundering Herd (7-4-2, 2-2-1 C-USA) plays host to FAU on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Huntington, W.Va. Marshall will be wearing pink jerseys to raise awareness for breast cancer research. The Herd has been involved in shutouts in each of its last seven matches, winning four of those contests. Marshall has allowed only eight goals all season, all in second halves, and has given up just four goals in its seven home matches. The Herd ranks at the top of Conference USA in scoring defense this season.
East Carolina (4-8-2, 1-4-0 C-USA) will travel to Miami to face FIU on Friday before returning to Greenville, N.C. to host the Owls at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Pirates have dropped six of their last seven matches, earning a win on Sept. 29 against Charlotte. ECU has allowed 17 goals and scored 15 on the year with 18 assists.
The Owls are looking for their first victory since Sept. 15, but have recorded three draws since then. FAU goalkeeper Courtney Zwetsch has earned five shutouts so far in her senior campaign.
