Little Rock, AR - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team fell 4-1 in its Sun Belt Conference series opener at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Owls fall to 28-19 on the season and 16-7 in league action. The team is tied with Arkansas State University in the conference standings. The two teams will continue the weekend three-game series on Saturday, May 12, at 5 p.m.

UALR (25-24, 11-14 Sun Belt) broke a scoreless game with a solo home run by John Clark in the third inning.

The difference would stay at one run until the Trojans broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning to take a 4-0 advantage. Sean Bignall's two-run single with two outs started the scoring. Bignall would later score on a RBI single by Blake Johnson.

FAU loaded the bases in the sixth inning with no outs but UALR reliever Andrew Hohn pitched out of the jam to keep the Owls off the scoreboard.

Freshman shortstop Mitch Morales plated FAU's only run of the night with a single in the eighth inning to score senior outfielder Alex Hudak.

The Owls out-hit UALR 5-4 and recorded 14 strikeouts as a pitching staff. Hudak recorded two hits while junior third baseman Kyle Newton, senior infielder Mike Albaladejo and Morales tallied one hit apiece.

Freshman left hander Bo Logan pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in relief, recording six strikeouts.

UALR's Chance Cleveland picked up the victory with five scoreless innings and eight strikeouts.
