Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team started its busiest stretch of the spring season with a 5-2 loss to the College of Charleston at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton. The owls, now 7-4, will play six matches in a 13-day span.
FAU's victories came from the top two spots in the singles' lineup.
Junior Taylor Albrecht improved to 10-1 on the season with a straight-set 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. The Sarasota native has won 14 singles matches for the entire 2011-12 campaign.
Freshman Chris Janssen also was victorious in a hard-fought, three-set match at No. 2 singles. He rallied to force a third set by winning the second frame 6-3. Janssen then won a tiebreaker 13-11 for his 10th singles' triumph this spring.
The Owls almost picked up the doubles point, but the duo of Janssen and freshman Robert Dubuque fell in a tiebreaker 7-3 after the teams had split the previous two doubles matches.
FAU returns to the court on Wednesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. against Xavier University from Patch Reef Park, 2000 West Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
