Monroe, La. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team concluded action in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 5-3 loss to University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday afternoon at Warhawk Field in Monroe, La.

The loss drops the Owls to 32-25 on the season. The team will await selection as an at-large team in the NCAA Division I field on Monday, May 30. UALR improves to 23-32 overall and represents Pool A in Sunday's championship game.

Trailing 1-0, FAU evened the game on a sacrifice fly by senior outfielder Colby Gratton that scored senior outfielder Andy Mee. Senior second baseman Raymond Church then connected on his team-leading sixth home run to give the Owls a 2-1 lead.

That lead was short lived as the Trojans' Casey McCollum hit a two-run scoring double to left field, putting UALR back on top 3-2 in the fourth inning.

FAU answered to tie the game on a sacrifice fly by senior third baseman Sean Bukovich in the sixth inning to score senior shortstop Nick DelGuidice.

However, UALR took a decisive 5-3 lead in the sixth inning on a two-run single to left field by Cameron Bentley.

The Trojans' Chad Woods picked up the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the season. The right hander allowed one run and one hit in three innings. Bubba Cooper pitched a perfect ninth inning to tally his first save of the season. FAU starting pitcher R.J. Alvarez suffered the loss, allowing five runs in 5.1 innings. The right hander dropped to 5-5 on the season.

DelGuidice had two hits to pace the Owls' six-hit offensive attack. Church, Mee, Gratton and senior designated hitter Joey Burkhalter each added one hit.

UALR's Bentley had two of the team's six hits and drove in two runs.

Saturday's game could end the careers of FAU seniors Eddie Cassidy, Taylor Everist, Jason Kitchen, Mike Ruccio, Dan Scheffler, Glen Troyanowski, Bukovich, Burkhalter, Church, DelGuidice, Gratton and Mee.
