MURFREESBORO, TN - An overpowering pitching performance by senior Rose Gressley propelled the Florida Atlantic softball team to a 3-0 win over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday.
The Owls (20-17, 4-2 Sun Belt) went up in the first inning when Heather Barnes drove in Brittany Walker with an RBI single to left. Walker added to the lead in the third inning when she hit a home run to left that put FAU ahead 3-0. That cushion was more than enough for Gressley, who threw 5.2 no-hit
innings before giving up a single to center field. She retired the next four batters in order to end the game. The win gives FAU two series wins to start Sun Belt play. The Owls continue Sun Belt play this weekend when they host ULM.
The series begins with a Saturday doubleheader, with the first game starting at 6 p.m. Live stats of both games will be available via GameTracker at www.fausports.com.
