BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team accumulated a team score of 307 at the end of the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Southwood Golf Club (7,141 yards) in Tallahassee. The Owls find themselves in 15th place out of 18 teams on the par 71 course. No. 18 Arkansas leads the event with a team score of 277, the only team to shoot under par after day one.
Junior Justin Thompson leads FAU and is three over par after shooting a 74 on the first day of the tournament. Thompson is tied in 28th place individually.
One stroke behind Thompson is teammate Kelly McHugh who is tied for 37th with a four over score of 75. Clint Wilhelm and Casey Matthews ended the first round tied with a score of 79. Junior Michael Baskovich wrapped up the scoring for the Owls and sits at T88 with an 82.
Carlos Ortiz of North Texas and Sebastian Cappelen of Arkansas are tied on top of the individual scores with 68. FAU is scheduled to continue the second round Saturday morning at 7 a.m.
