2011 Kick-off Classic

Florida Atlantic University will play host to the Kick-off Classic this weekend featuring: FAU, Long Island, Massachusetts, Michigan, Penn State, and Tulsa.

The tournament is the first of four that the Owls will host and one of six on the 2011 schedule. Last weekend, FAU opened the season at the National Training Center Elite Invitational. FAU dropped the first three games, all by one run and used a Rose Gressley home run to center field to take a 3-1 victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga. Brittany Walker leads the Owls with a .333 batting average while Gressley is at .308 with one homer and the team's five RBI total.

Gressley and sophomore Taylor Fawbush were the two weekend hurlers. Gressley fell to 0-2 after two-complete game performances, but holds a 0.00 ERA. Fawbush stands at 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA. The duo combined for 20 strikeouts and held opponents to a .188 batting average.
