Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team has received the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for exceptional academic performance during the 2010-11 academic year. The honor recognizes teams in NCAA Division I, II and III levels with 3.0-or-better cumulative grade point averages.
FAU's team had a 3.20 grade point average last year. One of the top student-athletes was senior Gabriela DeVries, who earned Capital One Academic All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. She is a biology major with a 3.80 cumulative GPA.
"We're proud of the commitment our players have made toward being strong student-athletes," said Brian Dooley, FAU's head women's soccer coach. "Ultimately, the players' academic success will lead them to having successful careers and making significant impacts in their chosen fields."
